Obituary for Charlene D. McClain

Charlene D. McClain, 61, was born May 20, 1961, to the late Walter, Jr. and Earlene Daniels in Chattanooga, TN. She entered into eternal rest on April 2, 2023.

She was married to the late Titus McClain. She was a graduate of Howard High School class of 1979. She had many jobs during her career such as Days Inn, Planters, Speedway, and Murphy’s. She was a former member of Westside Baptist Church.

Charlene was a lady of many crowns, “Mother, Wife, Sweet Legs, GG, Annie, Big Sis, Best Friend, and a Great Cook”. Raising kids was her full-time hobby. Charlene never made a difference in the children she birthed or kept. Whether she birthed them or not she knew how to spread out what she had and no one was ever left out! She was a true Queen of making a little bit into a lot for her family. When you went to her for advice, she would tell you like it was, even if it was something you didn’t like or want to hear. Her passion was cooking and making sure everyone had a good plate. Dressing, potato salad, and a slice of sweet potato pie were her specialty dishes. Her Faith in God stayed strong throughout her trials and tribulations. She never gave up while fighting until the very end, teaching us to do the same.
She leaves behind a big family to cherish her love and to continue her legacy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Jr. and Earlene Daniels; husband, Titus McClain; and
brother, Christopher Daniels.

Those to cherish her precious memory are her sons, Curtis Daniels and Deaunta Moton; daughters, Yvonne, Yolanda, Sheikquilla McClain, Stacy (Corey) Taylor, and Shanta Moton, all of Chattanooga; 11 grandchildren; brother, Walter “Rug” Daniels, Chattanooga; sisters, Jill Benford, Jacqueline (Robert) Blake, Deloris Johnson and Joan Bryant, all of Chattanooga; uncle, Alexander Drummond, Chattanooga; 8 sisters-in-law; a friend of the family, Regina Fisher; a host of other family and friends.

Public viewing will be held 2:00 pm- 6:00 pm Thursday, April 13, 2023, at the funeral home. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 am Friday, April 14, 2023 in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment: Forest Hills Cemetery.
