Mr. Cecil “Tine” Franklin Stodghill, Sr., 70, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, transitioned to his heavenly home on Sunday, August 14, 2022.
Cecil, affectionately known as “Tine”, was born January 29, 1952. He was a graduate of Riverside High School, class of 1969. He was captain of the Highland Park Giants, the local neighborhood baseball team. Cecil was a veteran of the US Army. He owned and operated “Tony’s Place” for many years. He also owned several other businesses in the City of Chattanooga, including a stake in Mercury Cab and Tine’s Detail Car Wash and T-Shirt Shop. Tine had a heart for children and donated school supplies annually to his local community schools. Tine was a faithful member of the Improved Benevolent Protective Order of Elks of the World, and a member of Armistice Lodge #440. He was the Local Director of the Education Department until his health failed.
He was preceded in death by parents, Neil and Lessie Will Stodghill; brothers, Myron Stodghill, Willie Stodghill, and Edward Cameron.
He is survived by his faithful and loving companion, Alice Brewer; brother, Darrell Stodghill (Angela Thomas); brother, Ed Stodghill (Barbara) of Toledo, OH; son, Cecil, Jr (Kimberly) of Birmingham, AL; and daughter, Nikia Smith of Houston, TX; three grandsons, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Special friends, Robert and Gwen Austin, Chattanooga, TN.
Public viewing will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2022, from 2:00 PM-6:00 PM, at the funeral home. An 11:00 AM funeral service will be held on Monday, August 29, 2022, in the chapel of John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 423-622-9995.
