Ms. Carolyn Thornton was born on November 15, 1948, to the late James Thornton and Mary Lou Thornton. She went home to be with our Lord and Savior on February 12, 2023. She was a 1966 graduate of Howard High School. Carolyn was of the Baptist faith and accepted Christ at an early age. She was a former employee of Dixie Yarns. Carolyn loved talking to family and friends. Her grandchildren and great grandkids were the greatest joy of her life.

She leaves to cherish her lovely memory: one daughter, Yvonne Thornton; two sons, Jeffrey and Carlos Thornton; four brothers, Albert Thornton, Michael (Harriett) Thornton, Cedric Thornton, and Anthony Jackson; two sisters, Barbara Jackson and Twana (Edward) Jackson; 5 grandkids and 3 great-grandkids; her best friends, Ethel Cox, Rose Harris, Annie Pearl Nard, and Betty Brogdon; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be held 9:00 AM-11:00 AM, Thursday, February 23, 2023, followed by an 11:00 AM funeral service in the chapel of John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 423-622-9995.

Interment: Forest Hills Cemetery.
