Belisser "Bliss" Yvonne Polk-Weddington, 66, passed away June 23, 2022, in Chattanooga, TN. She was born on January 28, 1956, to the late Doris I. Mack and Floyd Polk.
Belisser was a proud alumnus of Howard High School, home of the “Hustling Tigers” class of 1974. Belisser loved her church family. She was a faithful member of Saint Joseph Pleasant Baptist Church, where she served as assistant to the First Lady. She did the announcements as well as the church welcome.
In her younger years, Belisser was a dance enthusiast. She appeared on Soul Train and was known by many as “Super B”. Belisser never met a stranger and was loved by everyone with whom she came in contact
She was preceded in death by her parents, Doris I. Mack and Floyd Polk; brother, Billy H. McKenzie; sisters, Alfreda A. Henry, and Patricia Pillows.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Roderick Weddington; sons, Marcus Benford, and Carlstonia Chubbs; 9 grandchildren that she adored dearly, Keaira, Marcus, Kiana, Ladarius, Kya, Demetrius, Kara, Anika, and Stoneeshia; two brothers, Kenneth McKenzie and Van D Polk; three sisters, Francine Polk, Octavia (Angie) McKenzie, and Debra Hanner; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved friends; a devoted niece, Jacqueline “Jackie” Heathington; longtime friend, Pamela Witten.
Public viewing will be held from 9:00 AM through 1:00 PM on Friday, July 1, 2022, followed by a funeral service at 1:30 pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment: Highland Memorial Gardens.
