Obituary for Anthony D Jackson

Anthony “Tony” Durell Jackson, 61, was born on Thursday, January 19, 1961 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Throughout his youth, he was very athletic and involved in many sports. Upon graduating from Central High School in 1979, Tony immediately enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he nobly served for 4 years. Following his service, Tony built a career for himself as a self-employed truck driver.

Tony was a very loving father who adored his children, whom he would always refer to as his ‘pride and joy’. He enjoyed grilling, riding his motorcycle, Christmas, and he was a huge Tennessee Vols football fan. Tony was known for his sharp style, humor, and his lively outgoing personality at any family gathering or event. It was very easy for him to make conversation with anyone he crossed paths with due to his charming persona, and he loved to make jokes, laugh, and have a good time. Tony was an active and faithful servant to the Lord in his later years, and would commonly refer to Psalm 23 as it was his favorite bible verse.

On Wednesday, June 22nd, 2022 Anthony transitioned to eternal rest and received his wings to be with the Lord. We give thanks to God for having blessed us with such a wonderful and loving father, brother, and friend during our lifetime. He will truly be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Lee Jackson Sr. and Shirley S. Jackson (Chattanooga, TN).

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving children, Ashley & Christian Jackson (Marietta, GA), Kirsten Jackson (Phoenix, AZ), and Ashton Jackson (Hoover, AL); brother; James “Ping” Jackson Jr. (Chattanooga, TN), sisters; Vanessa (Samuel) Johnson (Omaha, NE.), & Donna (Richard) Morris, Sr. (Chattanooga, TN); and a host of dearly loved relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at the funeral home from 2:00pm-6:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, July 7, 2022 in the funeral home chapel. Interment: Chattanooga Memorial Park, 501 Memorial Drive Red Bank Tn 37415.
