Obituary for Andre Lamar Young

Andre Lamar Young passed away on March 27, 2023, at a local health facility in Chattanooga. He was born March 21, 1985, to Andre Lamar Williams and Tawanna Michelle Young Lee.

Andre was a graduate of Ooltewah High School, class of 2003. He was employed as a driver for Uber and Lyft for six years and customer service for Facebook for four years. He was also a customer service representative for Convergys for four years. Andre worked as an associate at Goonie Golf for seven years. He was a member of the Olivet Baptist Church.

Andre was one of the easiest-going, soft-spoken, and private individuals you will ever meet. He was well-liked by everyone and could make your mouth water once he stepped in the kitchen. During his teenage years he always talked about being a chef and wanting to go to culinary school. His family wanted to make this happen for him but thought he meant in Atlanta, Georgia. After he vocalized he did not want to go to Atlanta, but wanted to go to France or Italy, there was a halt to his dreams. One thing about it, he sure could cook and took matters into his own hands. He could be found watching cooking shows relentlessly. After his move to Texas, he constantly cooked for friends and sharpened his cooking skills even more. Let’s not forget about his obsession with Dragon Ball Z. Since childhood he has been very tech-savvy. He once figured out how to record Dragon Ball Z over a VHS tape of his sister singing. Andre liked to open things up and see how they worked on the inside. He did car repairs and even assisted friends with fixing things around the house.

Andre will be truly missed by family, friends, and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Sally A. Williams.

He leaves to cherish precious memories to his mother, Tawanna (Nathan) Lee; father, Andre Williams; grandmother, Cheryl Bell; sisters, Tawanda Jones, Andrea Green, and Nikita Jones; his brother, Fredrick Jones, Jr.; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Special acknowledgments to his beloved aunt, Angela King; godmother, Kimberly Williams, and dear family friend, Traci Vance.

Public viewing will be held 9:00 am-1:00 pm, Saturday, April 8, 2023, followed immediately by a 1:00 pm funeral service in the chapel of John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 423-622-9995.
