Obituary for Alice Jacqueline Jones
Alice Finley Jones, 82, passed away October 19, 2022, in Chattanooga. She was born March 21, 1940, to Robert Finley and Adelaide Dave. She attended Howard High School and retired from Rossville Yarn after more than thirty years of service.
Alice was a member of New Vernon Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Nurses’ Guild. She never met a stranger. She loved everyone, especially her children and grandchildren. Alice was a great cook and she loved to dance. After retirement, she loved to travel and eat good food. Her love for the church and the WORD never ceased. She was very proud of being a part of New Vernon Grove Baptist Church. Alice didn't like sadness. She wanted everyone to smile and be happy, and if they were not, she would try to change your sadness to a smile.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Samantha Matthews; son, Kenneth Dixon; grandson, Kevin Townsend; great-grandson, Khalil Strickland.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, three daughters, Yolonda Putman, Bridgetti Green, and Tammy Howell; one son, Windell Jones; fourteen grandchildren, thirty-three great- grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Veronica Jones, Pamella Dave, and Cleopatra Houston; one brother, Alex Dave; best friend, Alice Partor; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Public viewing will be held from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 423-622-9995, and 12:00 PM-1:00 PM at Olivet Baptist Church North, 4872 Jersey Pike, followed by a 1:00 PM funeral service. Interment: Highland Memorial Gardens.
