Obituary for Albert Fritz Clift
Albert Fritz Clift, 86, was born September 28, 1936 to the late Edgar and Vadie Jane Clift. He passed away quietly on October 23, 2022 at home surrounded by his loved ones.
“Fritz”, as he was lovingly called, accepted Christ at an early age and attended Westside Baptist Church with his parents and siblings. He attended Chattanooga Public schools, graduating from Booker T. Washington High School in the class of 1954. He was employed at Baylor School. He later began working for the City of Chattanooga Public Works Department as a truck driver, retiring after 29 years of service.
He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, bowling, having fun, and being around his family. He had a special talent of whistling and was a collector of guns. He played baseball as a hind catcher. He was an excellent swimmer. He always found ways to make you laugh. He spoke knowledge, was very wise and shared many funny stories.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Edgar and Vadie Clift; sisters, Reba Thornton and Ella Clift-Lane; brother, Wallace, “Bubba” Clift; granddaughter, Banisha Nichols; wife, Hattie Clift; niece, Deborah Thornton.
Those to cherish his loving memory are his wife, Mary Clift and son, Jeffery (Arlean) Clift, both of Akron, OH; daughters, Denise Fears, Chattanooga, TN, Wanda (Juewon) Green of Akron, OH, Veronica (William) Ryan, Elaine Clift, Annette Hyter and Jeanette Hyter, all of Chattanooga, TN; 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren; cousins, Cladie Joe Arnold, Floyd Arnold, Mary Helen Percy; devoted brother-in-law, Willie Lee Grier; devoted friend, Tyrone Wilkerson; loving great niece, Lakecha (Tyrone) Strickland; several nieces, cousins, brothers- and sisters-in-law, childhood friend, George “Beanpole” Finley; other relatives and friends.
Public viewing will be held from 9:00 am-11:30 am, Friday, November 4, 2022, followed by an 11:30 am funeral service at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 423-622-9995 .
