Obituary for Abraham Ellis, Jr.
Abraham Ellis, Jr., was born on March 2, 1951, in Chattanooga, TN to Abraham Ellis, Sr., and Mattie Lee Ellis. He transitioned this earthly life on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at a local medical facility.
Abraham was educated in the Chattanooga Public School system. He attended Booker T. Washington High School from 1966 to 1968 and graduated from Tyner High School Class of 1969.
In 1973, he became a part of the fraternal order of Alpha Phi Omega – PSI KAPPA at Chattanooga State.
His military career included service in the United States Army from 1971 to 1973. There he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Marksman .45 Pistol & Sharpshooter, and M16 Rifle medals for excellence.
Abraham was employed by Norfolk Southern Railroad from 1988 to 1993. He served as the Assistant Maintenance Engineer for Hilton Garden Inn from 2007 to 2012 before retiring.
He was preceded in death by his father, Abraham Ellis, Sr., and mother, Mattie Lee Ellis.
Survivors include his son, Deddric Ellis, of Chattanooga, TN; granddaughter, DeKyla Ellis, of Chattanooga, TN; a host of friends, and loved ones, Allen L. Locklin, Sr. and family, Rosemary Heard family, Cynthia Williams family, Wendell Kirk family, Elkana Owino family, and Tristan Kilgore family.
A 10:00 AM graveside service will be held on Friday, May 13, 2022, at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
