Obituary for D'Marquis Jarvante' Bell

D’Marquis “DJ” Jervante Bell was born to Reginald and Kimberly Bell on April 1st, 1996 in Chattanooga, TN. DJ attended Hamilton County Public Schools and graduated from Howard High School, where he was an unstoppable force on the Howard Hustling Tiger Football Team, in 2014.

DJ was known for his bigger than life personality and a smile that would light up a room. DJ’s infectious smile and ferociously loyal character led him to having a huge network of friends that DJ loved like family. DJ was a surprisingly affectionate person who never had any reluctance expressing his feelings of love and concern for those closest to him. If you knew DJ, you knew how much he adored his family. DJ was a fiercely loving and protective brother and son. There was no one that DJ loved and doted on more than his mother and baby sister, Raijeria. DJ took his job as a big brother seriously from a very young age. If you saw DJ, more often than not, you saw his shadow Rai, whom he lovingly called Boodie. Her well being and success were always of the utmost importance to DJ.

DJ was preceded in death by his grandfather, James A. Shropshire; great-grandparents, Morris and Minnie Jennings.

DJ is survived by his parents, Reginald and Kimberly Bell; his grandmothers, Maeola Shropshire and Ethel Green; his sister, Raijeria Bell; uncles, James Shropshire (Lynn), Daniel Shropshire (Manika), and Alonzo Burton; aunt, Tess Robinson (Andre), all of Chattanooga, TN; a host of cousins, extended family, and friends.

DJ hated to see those close to him sad and would never want you to mourn him but remember the times shared with him with fondness, happiness, and laughter.

Public viewing will be held from 10 am-12 pm, Thursday, November 4, 2021, at Greater Second Missionary Baptist Church, 810 Shallowford Road, Chattanooga, TN, 37411 followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m.
